What Needs to Grow?
[Healing through Feeling -- the Spring Session]
It’s early March, which always comes as a relief after Winter. We “sprung forward” last night, the birds are chirping today & there are a few green blades of grass starting to sprout in our (mostly) brown backyard. Spring is coming & I couldn’t be more grateful.
Winter is a historically difficult time of year for me & I have come to accept that. The acceptance helps in cute ways, like when it comes to giving myself permission to turn inward, wear warm socks, journal & make more soup…but it also doesn’t stop the seasonal depression storm from coming. Reflecting on the past Winter & the state I was in is somewhat ironic as I had intended to do another seasonal healing group over the Winter, but the depression kept dragging me down. Crying often for no real reason or too many reasons, the critical & judgmental voice in my head convincing me I didn’t have much to offer if I were to somehow put a group together. I know better than to believe that voice, but there are also times that all of those feelings need to move through so we can transform them, heal another part of ourselves. When we shed a layer, we can access the hope that Spring brings & feel inspired to create again. Spring wouldn’t be as sweet without the bitterness of Fall and Winter, without the time spent letting go of all that we need to release.
While releasing & letting go practices are so very important, they can often feel heavy & intense. This is why I am excited to shift to a more positive, growth-oriented focus for my next group. Spring invites us to shift our perspective, to look at what we are thankful for, what we would like to bloom & cultivate more of in our lives. These Spring sessions will focus on exactly those themes — gratitude, connection, focusing on “what needs to grow” vs. “what needs to go?”
If you are emerging from the darkness of Winter & wanting to welcome Spring with a fresh perspective, please join me for the Spring iteration of Healing through Feeling. More information below. I am really looking forward to this one! Hope you can join — groups are only as good as the women in them & we have had some very special women join over the past few sessions.
